Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns are the top solutions when your tooth is decayed or broken to such an extent that fillings won’t work anymore. Crowns, also known as caps, encase the entire visible portion of your teeth. It’s different from fillings, which only cover a small part of the tooth.

Crowns serve as protective shell and help strengthen the decayed or damaged tooth. They also improve the appearance of the tooth by restoring it to its original shape.

Dental crowns come in different materials, but dentists like Dr. Bram prefer those made of porcelain material because of its natural look and feel.

How Dr. Bram does it

On your first visit, Dr. Bram will need to take impressions of your teeth. This is important as this would be the basis of creating the crown. The damaged or decayed tooth will also undergo reshaping. In most cases, a portion of the tooth will need to be removed for the cap to fit properly. Dr. Bram does his best, as much as possible, to maintain the natural tooth shape and structure.

The impressions of your teeth will be sent to a dental laboratory to be processed into a permanent crown. Before you go home, we will provide you with a temporary crown. This will serve as cover for your tooth in between visits.

Once the permanent crown is ready, you will need to visit our clinic again. Dr. Bram will fit the permanent crown after removing the temporary one. He will then check if the cap matches the natural color of your teeth and will ask you whether it fits comfortably. Cementing will follow once everything looks and feels just like natural teeth.

Dr. Bram really, when my first set came in, the crowns and we were going to put them in, he put them all over my teeth and we looked at them and decided they weren’t the right shade, they just weren’t, so he sent them back and put my temporaries back on. I waited another week, at this point it had been going on for a while and I was really wanting those teeth and to be done with this, but we weren’t happy with the color so he sent them back and what’s what I would like.
