Our patient had a significant history of periodontitis, as our before photo shows. Treatment for this potentially devastating disease was very successful but left a residual of very apparent gum recession.

Tooth structures on the lower arch were nonetheless very healthy. Bone density of soft tissues (gingiva) were equally healthy.

After reviewing various options for creating what the patient felt would be more normal appearing lower teeth, the decision was made to use porcelain laminates to alter the excess spacing between individual teeth and to cover the exposed root structures. Tooth replacement was thereby avoided.

The patient's post operative picture shows the dramatic change and healthier appearance of his lower teeth.
